The Bafta award winning, BFI Vision Award supported Out of Orbit is one of the most exciting production companies to emerge from the booming Northern Ireland Film and Television Industry.
From the debut screenplay by acclaimed Irish playwright Owen McCafferty, Ordinary Love had its world premiere at TIFF 2019. Staring Academy Award® nominee Lesley Manville (Phantom Thread) and Liam Neeson (Schindler’s List), Ordinary Love is directed by Lisa Barros D’Sa and Glenn Leyburn (co-directors Good Vibrations). Bankside Films have sold the film worldwide including deals to Focus Features (multi-territory deal) and Bleecker Street (Domestic) with financing from the BFI, Northern Ireland Screen and Head Gear Films.
Out of Orbit’s 2018 feature, The Dig, directed by Andy and Ryan Tohill Brothers received a 2018 British Independent Film Award nomination, won Best Film at the 2018 Galway Film Fleadh and had its North American Premier at TIFF 2018. The Dig has sold worldwide to Element Distribution (UK/Ireland) and Electric Entertainment (ROTW).
With previous productions including the 2015 Bafta award winning and Academy Award® nominated Boogaloo and Graham and the 2016 Royal Television Society Award Winning #WeAreYou.
Out of Orbit is dedicated to championing established and emerging talent in Northern Ireland. Recently, they produced Sam O’Mahony’s feature directorial debut, The Wise Guy, which is currently on its festival circuit, with screenings at the Galway Film Fleadh and the Newport Beach International Film Festival. They also produced Kris Kelly’s short animation A Wind and the Shadow which recently won the IFTA for Best Animated Short Film and Best Short Film at the Fastnet Film Festival.
Out of Orbit are currently developing a diverse drama and comedy television slate with support from BBC NI and BBC.
